Jane Elliott’s Angry Eye video has been circulating Tumblr and white Feminists are coming out of the woodwork in droves to make up an excuse for one white woman’s racist tears but not to apologize for the tears of the WoC who were also part of the exercise.

also, the “what if she’d been abused” thing doesn’t really work as an argument when they were all warned beforehand that the exercise would be stressful and those of a nervous disposition should avoid signing up. that said, we shouldn’t make the assumption she’s racist just because being screamed at and called stupid upset her (i’m not defending her, just saying it’s perfectly rational for someone who’s clearly never been exposed to that sort of treatment to have a strong emotional reaction).

Sooooo does this mean that it’s OK when this happens to women of color since by then we should be used to it?
Why is it so hard for people to not focus so much on that White woman (she’s NOT a girl - she’s a college student and presumably a legal adult) and instead put themselves in the position of women of color who’ve been treated the exact same way when they were MUCH younger than this?
